10 Books Every Hopeless Romantic Should Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish

Books of the romance genre are probably my favourite to read. Yes, I like to read epic adventures with bad-ass female leads, but sometimes I’ve got to put away the sword in favour for a rose. Here are five romantic books I’ve read and enjoyed, as well as five I’d like to read.

1. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
Compared to other books out there, I know Twilight may not top many peoples’ lists, but personally, I loved this book when I first read it back in middle school. I like to think of this book as my intro into YA romance.

2. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
It’s beautiful and funny and cute; do I really need to say more? Also check out Lola and the Boy Next Door, and Isla and the Happily Ever After by the same author. They are standalones, but I strongly recommend to read them in the order mentioned. (Lola’s my fave.)

3. I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella
I’ve yet to read a book by Sophie that I didn’t love. Her writing is hilarious, her characters are lovable, and her stories are a heck of a good time. Her easy to read romances are my go-to for getting out of slumps. (Confessions of a Shopaholic anyone?)

4. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Although I didn’t love the book, I can’t deny that I love Hazel Grace and Augustus. It was a beautiful and memorable romance. I do have to admit though, I enjoyed the movie more than the book.

5. 10 Reasons Not to Fall in Love by Linda Green
Gosh, I read this so long ago, I only remember bits and pieces of the plot. I do remember though, that Green’s writing style reminds me of Kinsella’s. It’s funny, cute, and a quick to read.

6. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
I was introduced to this book through a trailer I watched on Facebook. I can already tell it’ll make me cry. *nonchalantly tosses book in TBR pile*

7. When We Collided by Emery Lord
Piling on the contemporaries for when the warm weather is here! (Which by the looks of it, won’t be arriving anytime soon.) I’ve heard many people have conflicted feelings about this book, so I’m really not sure what to expect of it. I guess we’ll just have to see!

8. The Love that Split the World by Emily Henry
The synopsis sounds so mysterious and intriguing. Plus, the cover is gorgeous. (I have an affinity for beautiful covers, okay?)

9. The Siren by Kiera Cass
I’ve read The Selection, and enjoyed it well enough (not particularly fond of The Heir though), so I’d like to hope I’ll like this book as well. It sounds pretty interesting.

10. Life and Death by Stephanie Meyer
I think it’d be really cool to see the switch in gender roles and how the story unfolds with these different characters. (Oh hey, I opened and closed with Twilight. How fitting.)

And there we have it! What books make your heart melt? Let me know in the comments! 🙂
