10 New-To-Me Authors I Read For the First Time in 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Missed last week’s Top Ten Tuesday, but I’m back! School has been hectic lately. 😦 Anyways this week’s topic is books by authors I read for the first time this year. There are actually so many more; I’m surprised by how many!

1. Laini Taylor

Taylor definitely made an impression on me. I loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone and am excited to see what will happen further into the series!

2. Katie McGarry

McGarry is best known for her teen romances featuring seriously hunky dudes. Nowhere But Here is my first read from her, and she did not disappoint! Will definitely be checking out her many other books.

3. Gayle Forman

If I Stay was a decent read, but nothing special strikes me when I think of Forman’s writing. I wouldn’t not read another book by her, but I won’t be actively seeking it.

4. Ellen Hopkins

Hopkins has a very interesting writing style that is either a hit or miss with readers. I personally love it, and will be reading more from her in the future.

5. Jojo Moyes

Moyes’ writing is a dream to read. I absolutely LOVE Me Before You.

6. Tiffany McDaniel

McDaniel is a debut author of The Summer that Melted Everything. AMAZING book and super nice person as well! Looking forward to what she’ll come up with next.

7. JJ Sherwood

If you’re into fantasy, I highly recommend Sherwood.

8. Kendare Blake

I read Anna Dressed in Blood by Blake for my school’s book club. She plays with some interesting ideas in her books.

9. Kasie West

I kept seeing her name so often, I HAD to check out her books. West’s stories are short and sweet, which are nice at times, but I do feel that they lack the ability to affect a reader the way they would if they were longer.

10. Sarah Dessen

I honestly don’t know why I’ve never picked up a Sarah Dessen book. I saw them all the time in the library. I heard so many great things about Saint Anything, so I finally picked it up. It was pretty good, and I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for her other books.

And that wraps up my list! What authors have you read for the first time in 2016? Let me know in the comments!
